Climb one of the most challenging Alpine PD+ peaks in Nepal, Lobuche East Peak, at 6119m to experience a fantastic Himalayan adventure. Enjoy the majestic panorama of Mount Everest (8848m), Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kantega Peak, and Tawache Peak from the summit. Among the twin summits of Lobuche East and West, Lobuche East is often climbed than Lobuche West (6145m). They lie close to Khumbu Glacier in the Everest region.

The two-week-long expedition goes through the main Everest trail and crosses many beautiful Sherpa villages en route. You’ll encounter many technical ascents such as ice and snow, sharp and exposed ridges, and vertical walls. In 1984, Laurence Nielson and Sherpa Ang Gyalzen became the first two mountaineers to summit the 69th highest peak in Nepal.

Lobuche East Peak Climbing begins upon your arrival in Kathmandu.

Indulge in full-day sightseeing of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the city before embarking on a scenic flight to Lukla. Begin trekking through the traditional Sherpa villages of Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Dibuche, Dingboche, and Lobuche towards Gorakshep. Observe the ethnic lifestyle, culture, tradition, and cuisine of the native Sherpa tribe. A hike to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and Kala Patthar (5545m) offers ample time for acclimatization before approaching the Lobuche Peak. Descend back to Lobuche village and begin climbing towards Lobuche High Camp (5400m).

Prepare for the climb with your Sherpa guide and indulge in training that involves using ice-ax, crampons, fixed rope, and harness. Begin climbing through the southwest ridge. Using the fixed rope, you’ll begin climbing the final steep wall with an exposed ridge to reach the summit. Enjoy a magnificent panorama of the surrounding mountains, and Khumbu and Lobuche Glacier from the summit. Upon completing the summit, you’ll retrace your path back to Lukla. Enjoy a brief visit to the centuries-old Tengboche Monastery en route to Lukla.

1

Welcome to Kathmandu! Upon arrival, we’ll receive you and transfer you to your hotel located at the heart of the city. Enjoy excellent accommodation in one of the Three Star-Rated hotels in Kathmandu. In the meantime, you’ll visit our office and discuss the trip in detail. Meet your Sherpa guide and visit the local trek shop to buy or rent climbing gear and equipment. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Your Sherpa guide will visit the appropriate government offices to get the necessary permits, including climb permits and national park entry. You can embark on a scenic sightseeing tour of the beautiful Kathmandu City. An experienced tour guide will take you to some of the most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Changunarayan are the UNESCO designated site in Kathmandu. Due to time constraints, you will visit only a few destinations. Enjoy an insightful tour of the historical, cultural, and religious sites of the city. Overnight in Kathmandu.

The trip begins early as you wake up early, pack your bags, and head towards the airport. Embark on a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Also known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport, Lukla Airport serves as the gateway to the Everest Region. Enjoy an aerial tour of Eastern Nepal from the Flight. Upon arrival, you can have your breakfast and prepare for the trek. The first day of the trek begins at Lukla and climbs along the massive Dudh Koshi River towards Phakding village. Walk past the traditional Sherpa settlements en route to Phakding.

The second day of the trek advances along the Dudh Koshi River and through lush forests towards Namche Bazaar. Leaving Phakding, you’ll begin climbing towards the Monjo village. Get your entry permit for the UNESCO designated Sagarmatha National Park and continue trekking through the park towards Namche Bazaar. Catch the breathtaking view of Kongde Ri Peak (6187m) upon arrival in Namche. The largest village in the entire region, Namche, is home to many high-end teahouses, shops, and restaurants. Overnight in a comfortable teahouse.

Spend the essential day acclimatizing at Namche Bazaar. You can use this day to acclimatize and explore the beautiful Dudh Koshi Valley. Explore the scenic Bazaar area and then begin climbing towards the village of Khumjung. Explore the beautiful Khumjung Monastery and witness the supposed yeti scalp and paw preserved inside a glass box at the monastery. You can enrich yourself with the folktales of Yeti, an abominable snowman. From here, you can walk towards Hillary School. Explore the largest school in the Everest region before retracing your path back to Namche. The entire hike may last 3-4hr. Spend the rest of the day relishing the beautiful view of the nearby Kongde Ri Peak immersed in the mesmerizing light of the sunset.

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a half-day trek towards Dibuche village located above Namche Bazaar. The trail climbs through stone-steps and heads towards the Everest Memorial. Catch the beautiful sight of Mount Everest in the distance. The trail drops for a while and then begins to climb towards Tengboche village. You can visit the Tengboche Monastery before embarking on a short hike to the nearby village of Dibuche. Overnight in Dibuche.

Leaving Dibuche village, you’ll begin descending towards the Imja Khola or Imja River. You’ll cross the river and start climbing towards the Pangboche village. A short hike will bring you to Pangboche Monastery that is home to the only nunnery in the entire region. Visit the nunnery and then begin climbing uphill towards Dingboche village. Walk past the beautiful Mani stones (Large stones crafted with Tibetan scriptures) en route to Dingboche.

From Lama Hotel, you’ll take a detour and head east towards the Gosainkunda trail. The forested trail goes along Langtang Khola towards Syabru village. You’ll encounter lush rhododendron forests en route. After a brief rest at Syabru, you’ll continue trekking towards Bamboo village. Walk past dense bamboo forests and climb towards the Tamang village of Thulo Syabru. Overnight in Thulo Syabru village.

The half-day trek from Dingboche will bring you to Lobuche village located on the foothill of Lobuche East Peak. Leaving Dingboche, you’ll begin trekking along the Khumbu Glacier towards Dughla village. The trail continues past Chupki Lhara and climbs along the pristine Khumbu Glacier towards Lobuche village. Catch the beautiful sight of Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal en route to your destination. Lobuche serves as the final stop before approaching the short peaks of Lobuche East and Island Peak. Overnight in Lobuche.

Leaving Lobuche, you’ll begin trekking along the Khumbu Glacier towards Gorakshep. Gorashep contains small settlements that offer a gateway to Everest Base Camp. Walk past the Indian Army Mountaineers’ memorials en route to Gorakshep. You can pack a lunch and then embark on a hike towards Everest Base Camp. A few hours of the uphill trek along the Khumbu Glacier will bring you to the base camp. Explore the campsite and take photos of the pristine Khumbu Glacier and Khumbu Icefall before retracing your path back to Gorakshep. Spend the night at Gorakshep village.

The day begins early as you embark on an early morning hike to the local landmark of Kala Patthar. Kala Patthar (5545m) lies a few hundred meters above Everest Base Camp. You can enjoy the sight of Mount Everest Summit from Kala Patthar that isn’t visible from the base camp. A few hours of the trek along the rocks will bring you to Kala Patthar. Spend a brief time enjoying the panoramic view of the valley before retracing your path back to Gorak Shep. Enjoy your breakfast at Gorak Shep before embarking on a trek to Lobuche village. A few hours of the easy downhill hike along the Khumbu Glacier will bring you to Lobuche. Spend the evening preparing for the upcoming trek.

Leave Lobuche village and embark on a short trek towards Lobuche High Camp. Trek along the scenic Lobuche glacier towards Lobuche Base Camp. After a brief rest, you’ll begin climbing through the thick snow overlooking the beautiful sights of Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Pokalde, Thamserku, and Kantega Peaks. The glaciated trail will bring you to Lobuche High Camp. Spend the day preparing for the upcoming climb. Your guide will provide you with the necessary training on climbing gear and equipment. Overnight in a tent.

13

Enjoy your breakfast before dawn. Prepare yourself before embarking on a climb towards the summit. The push for the summit begins as early as 2/3 am. Using the fixed rope, you’ll start climbing through the rock surface up to the altitude of 5,770 meters. Here on, you’ll begin climbing the ice-wall with the help of crampons and ice-ax. Prepare for the final ascent and begin climbing through the exposed ridge using the fixed rope. A short climb will bring you to the top from where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the snow-capped peaks and Lobuche Glacier. After spending some time at the summit, you’ll retrace your path and climb down to Lobuche village. Enjoy your lunch, and then head back to the community of Pheriche. Overnight in Pheriche.

Leaving Pheriche village, you’ll begin climbing downhill along the Imja Khola. The trail climbs down to Pangboche village. Enjoy a delicious lunch and a warm cup of Sherpa tea before heading down towards Tengboche village. The entire trek may last 3-4hr. Explore the beautiful Tengboche Monastery and meet the local monks. Tengboche Monastery hosts the annual Mani Rimdu festival, where hundreds of locals and tourists show up almost every year. Catch the beautiful sight of Ama Dablam. Overnight in Tengboche.

15

After breakfast at Tengboche, you’ll begin retracing your path back to Namche Bazaar. Namche lies almost 10km from Tengboche village. Begin trekking along the Dudh Koshi River and make your way towards Phungi Thenga village. After a brief rest, you’ll continue traveling past the Everest Memorial and begin climbing down the stone steps. A short hike will bring you back to Namche Bazaar. You can spend the evening relishing the view of Kongde Ri Peak and enjoying the evening life of the vibrant bazaar.

Today, you’ll retrace your path and trek back to Lukla. On the last day of the trek, you’ll exit Namche and begin climbing downhill along the Dudh Koshi River. Cross few suspension bridges and walk past the lush forested trail to reach Monjo village. At Monjo, you’ll exit the Sagarmatha National Park. Begin climbing downhill along the scenic waterfalls towards Phakding village. Enjoy a delicious lunch before trekking back to Lukla. The trek ends at Lukla. You can explore the beautiful town and celebrate the completion of the trip. Overnight in Lukla.

17

An early morning flight from Lukla will bring you back to Kathmandu. Embark on a 40min long flight and Farwell to the beautiful Everest Region. Catch the majestic sights of the mountains up north as you make your way towards Kathmandu City. As you hover above Kathmandu City, you can catch the beautiful views of a few of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Upon arrival, you’ll drive back to the hotel. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day, either relaxing or exploring the city. Overnight in Kathmandu.

A reserve day is kept in hand to cover for any Lukla flight delay or layover during the Lobuche Peak expedition. You can use this day to explore the city and visit some of the least seen destinations around Kathmandu. If you wish to shop for a souvenir or find a good restaurant, you can visit the nearby Thamel town. Overnight in Kathmandu.

On the last day in Kathmandu, we’ll drive you to the airport on time for your Flight. To avoid any delay due to traffic, we’ll transfer you to the airport approximately 2hr before your flight time.
